State Route 109

State Route 109 begins in Sumner County at the Kentucky-Tennessee line. The new Tennessee exchange at Exit 1 will bring one into Portland, a highly functioning employment center on the northwestern border of the county.

The Portland Connector, a 7-mile, $100M, 4-lane divided highway, will divert the freight and goods traffic from downtown Portland allowing a route from I-65 at the Tennessee-Kentucky state line through the county seat of Gallatin, and onto I-40/840 east of Nashville in Wilson County.

State Route 109 is the primary freight and goods movement corridor within Sumner County and is vital to every aspect of the local economy including corporate operations, manufacturing, and distribution. Many economic development opportunities remain along the SR 109 corridor.
